The central government has sanctioned ₹641 crore for a 5.2 km elevated road on NH-66 through Porvorim (from 508 km to 513.15 km). Construction started September 2024; ~50% complete as of January 2025. When complete, this will dramatically improve Porvorim's traffic flow and further strengthen its position as the commercial spine of North Goa.
Atal Setu's 5.1 km span (opened February 2019) carries ~66,000 vehicles/day, effectively merging Porvorim's commercial and residential development with Panaji's institutional and government base. For four-wheel office commuters, Porvorim is now 3 km from Panaji CBD rather than an isolated suburb.
